Whether desiring to focus on business, history or simply having fun, there are a number of historic sights to see in Atlanta. In most cases, educational tours focus on historical and cultural attractions. Whether a museum, library or park, there is a lot to learn about the city while in the area.

The city is also one known for political actions and protests. The African American Panoramic Experience Museum is only one of several museums which provide a great deal of insight into the political aspects of the city. Whereas, the Atlanta Cyclorama features a panoramic painting related to the American Civil War Battle which took place in the city.

Auburn Avenue Research Library also focuses on culture and history. While a library, there often special exhibits which can be on view for a few weeks or more per year. Generally, the library is used for referencing the culture and history of the city through a large archive of historical documents and records. It is important when visiting the library to plan at least a full or half day to do so, especially if planning on researching a specific area in history.

Neighborhoods are also quite historic and unique in the city. One of the most interesting being that of Buckhead. Buckhead, often considered the jewel of Atlanta is lined with elegant hotels, elegant and historic homes, shopping and restaurants. As such, it can be a nice break from sightseeing for a stroll along with lunch or dinner.

Other sights which educational tours visit often include the CNN Center and Centennial Olympic Park. In fact, it was CNN that broke the news of the explosion that took place at the 1996 Olympic Games, the event for which the complex is best known. Whereas, those visiting the CNN Center can get a first hand view of the stories behind the news and how newscasters decide which reports become news worthy of broadcast.

Another museum which is worth a stop is that of the Fernback museum. For, this is a museum which focuses on the development of life on earth. As such, there are a number of interactive exhibits which help define, describe and explain life from the beginning to present day. In addition, there is also an IMAX theater which often features documentaries and first run films. While the IMAX is part of the complex, tickets are often separate and apart from General Admission.

The Jimmy Carter Center combines politics and history. President Carter served as the United States president from 1977 to 1981. As with past presidents, the library and museum focus on this time period. Included in the exhibitions are gifts which the president and family received while in office as well a duplicate full size replica of the Oval Office as it was during the time of Carter presidency.
