Discovering A Weekend House Rental New Orleans

By Edward Russell

When it comes to fun and festivals, New Orleans is a key location. For, there are often festivals and parades during all times of the year. Mostly known for Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, the city is alive and well 24/7, 365 days a year with a number of housing options from bed and breakfasts to hotels, motels and a weekend house rental New Orleans.

In most cases, apartments, Air B&Bs, bed and breakfasts, hotels, motels and private residences all have similar rates, especially during the off-season. While this is the case, the off season is New Orleans is somewhat of an understatement though does refer to a period in which there are fewer fairs, festivals and other events than other times of the year. As such, one of the best ways to obtain the best rates is to book a location as far in advance as is possible.

When traveling as a group, individuals can cut costs by sharing a house, house boat or other private property. While this is the case, there are often more risks involved than when staying at a bed and breakfast, hotel or motel. For, if guests are accused of theft or property destruction which occurred before arrival, it can often be difficult to prove otherwise.

While these accusations are often few and far between, there are homeowners and property managers whom will make such claims just to file an insurance claim or have the guests pay the expenses to replace items, or fix damage. One way to avoid this problem, regardless of the type of lodging in which one is staying is to take pictures upon arrival and prior to departure.

If problems exist to the point of guests wishing to make a last minute cancellation, it can often be difficult to obtain a refund. Difficulty in obtaining a refund and other issues are why a number of people still prefer to stay at a hotel, motel or bed and breakfast versus a private residence or Air B&B.

While this is the case, there are far more honest homeowners renting out rooms and houses than there are dishonest ones. When this is the case, the homeowner should have no problem providing references, going over a checklist or answering any questions a scheduled guest might have about the property. Whereas, if the agent or homeowner has reservations about doing so, then potential guests most often have reservations about going ahead with the stay.

In most cases, groups of people will fair better renting a large house than staying in Air B&Bs, bed and breakfasts, hotels or motels. For, like these other locations, houses are based on a nightly fee. As such, if you have 8 people splitting the cost, a stay could actually run less than $20/night per person outside of peak periods.

In addition, parking rates during these events can often run $50/day or more. As such, in order to have the most fun possible and avoid driving in heavy traffic, finding what is often extremely limited parking or paying high taxi fares is to rent a place near the event. In doing, individuals will often have a far more relaxed and enjoyable experience when visiting New Orleans.
