Should one want more than churches and bridges in terms of history, Aberdeen has one distinct advantage in that it is central to most other significant historical sites in the area. In close proximity to this city is Queen Elizabeth's favorite vacation place, which is Balmoral Castle. Loch Ness, the home of the legendary monster is also very much accessible from Aberdeen by road.

Aberdeen is also an accessible point if you want to visit the Scottish Highlands. The highlands is what really gives you a general picture of what Scotland is all about, with fantastic views and the foggy magical atmosphere that is distinctly Scottish. It is also a place that is chilly the year round and windy as well, so best to bring an extra sweater or coat. In fact anything worth visiting in Scotland is a train or a car ride away from Aberdeen, with trips lasting on average of two to four hours at most.

In terms of cost, going to this place is by no means cheap, and travel research shows that on average a tourist will need to spend about three hundred dollars per day. However, this fairly high average spending can be somewhat alleviated by picking prudent alternatives such as AirBnb accommodations which only costs 50 to 70 dollars per day average. Group tours are also fairly well priced and will cost you about 70 to 90 dollars per group activity depending on where you are going and what you will be doing. By choosing prudently ahead what you want to do, can mean greater savings for you.
