Discovering Touristy Areas For Weekend Getaways AZ

When it comes to the Southwest area of the United States, individuals can experience some of the most dramatic scenery in the world. In fact, the dramatic canyons and cliffs of Arizona are often considered some of the most beautiful and pristine areas. In fact, there are a number of tourist areas which play host to fun Weekend Getaways AZ.

As with other areas, there are a number offerings for those looking for everything from nature hikes to hot springs, massages and relaxation. While there are numerous offerings in this regard, there are seven which are often considered the most popular. These mini-vacations include, Sedona, Lake Powell, Flagstaff, Bisbee, the Grand Canyon, Lake Havasu and Jerome.

Sedona for example, offers a number of resorts and spas as well as spring fed mineral springs. Known as a spiritual center, a number of holistic professionals now live and thrive in the area. As such, whether visiting a spa for a relaxing facial, massage or soaking in hot mineral springs, individuals often find this area to be one of the most relaxing in the state. In addition, the area plays host to several well known restaurants offering everything from exotic to natural and organic dishes.

Lake Powell on the other hand is located on the border of Utah and Arizona. The lake is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the southwest by locals and tourists. As a result, it can be extremely busy during Spring and Summer months. As such, if planning on camping in the area, it is advised that reservations be made well in advance.

Flagstaff offers a mountain town experience although the area has been going through a redevelopment process and has grown a great deal in population over the last decade. In addition, a number of new upscale stores and restaurants now grace the outskirts. Whereas, the quaint downtown area still thrives with a number of local bars, eateries, museums and hot spots.

Artists and art lovers will no doubt find Bisbee worth a trip. Unlike the many tourist traps along I-45, Bisbee is an area where artists actually live and work on crafts on a daily basis. In addition, the town plays host to the Copper Queen hotel, a hotel which was a favorite of John Wayne. In fact, the room where the famous cowboy stayed on a regular basis is now adorned by a star on the door.

London Bridge may be falling down in the song but not in the town of Lake Havasu. For, the bridge is now a working bridge located in the area. It was in the mid-late 1960s when the bridge was moved piece by piece from London to Arizona. Since the time of relocation, the bridge has become a highlight of travelers whom cross over the bridge from California to Arizona on a regular basis.

Jerome, a town even lesser known than Bisbee is a small village located in the Black Hills county of Yavapai. The town offers scenic views, narrow alleyways and a history of ghostly apparitions. In addition, there are a number of locally owned eateries and shops. After an afternoon of lunch and shopping, many residents and tourists like to tour the various old buildings and notable hotels in which ghosts of the old west are rumored to haunt the establishments on a regular basis.
